CCTA’s Environmental Engineering experts provide consulting services for a broad range of environmental engineering disciplines including water supply and treatment, water pumping, storage and distribution, wastewater collection and pumping, and wastewater treatment and effluent disposal.
Components of services include the full range of studies from Class Environmental Assessments and preliminary studies to final designs and construction services for municipal, private and industrial projects. The scope of our services includes all aspects of project development including site and facility assessments, feasibility studies and financial evaluations, funding applications, approvals, detailed design, tendering, administration and supervision of construction, operations and maintenance manuals and performance reports. We are completely familiar with the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act, O. Reg. 170/03 and related regulations, Ministry of the Environment guidelines and policies, and the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment planning process.
Water Supply & Treatment
These projects involve the planning, design and construction of raw water intakes or groundwater systems, low lift pumping stations, new water treatment plants, and expansions or upgrades to water treatment plants. CCTA also undertakes evaluations and certifications of compliance with O. Reg. 170/03 for water supply and treatment systems of all sizes.
Water Pumping, Storage & Distribution
CCTA plans and designs water booster pumping stations and storage reservoirs. We also develop and analyze models of existing and proposed water distribution and transmission systems as a tool for design and assessments under various water demand conditions.
Wastewater Collection & Pumping
CCTA conducts sanitary sewer needs and inflow/infiltration studies to assist municipalities with infrastructure planning and asset management. We also plan and design wastewater pumping stations and forcemains, and conduct assessments of existing pumping stations, recommending upgrades and/or expansions.
Wastewater Treatment & Effluent Disposal
CCTA completes the planning and design of new and expanded wastewater treatment plants that comprise secondary and tertiary treatment processes to meet site-specific effluent quality criteria. Facilities are designed for surface water, in-ground or spray irrigation effluent disposal.
Needs & Servicing Studies
CCTA conducts sanitary sewer needs and inflow/infiltration studies to assist municipalities with infrastructure planning and asset management. CCTA also undertakes water and wastewater servicing studies for private developments, industries and municipalities, to assess feasibility and infrastructure requirements.
CCTA completes annual performance reports for a wide range of private and municipal water and wastewater systems. CCTA also prepares Engineering Evaluation Reports to certify compliance of water systems as required by O. Reg. 170/03 and other standards.
Class Environmental Assessment Studies
To address potential impacts associated with new water and wastewater projects and ensure proper consultation with affected public and agency groups, CCTA completes Class Environmental Assessments, typically classified as Schedule B or Schedule C undertakings. In these projects, in addition to the engineering assessments and evaluations, CCTA undertakes public, stakeholder and agency consultation, as well as coordination with various disciplines for thorough environmental impact assessments and evaluations. Thoughtful consideration of public and agency comments and requirements in developing the final, preferred solution is integral to each project.
In addition to our engineering design services, CCTA also provides services related to construction implementation. This includes: preparation of construction drawings, contract specifications and tender documents; obtaining the necessary approvals and permits; and completing the tendering process including contractor pre-qualification, equipment pre-selection, advertising, and review of submitted tenders. During construction, we act as a representative to the client and provide contract administration and construction inspection to ensure that the engineering designs and specifications are fully adhered to. Following completion, we prepare for-record drawings to document the final build, and continue to provide support services through to the completion of the construction warranty period.
