East End Sanitary Sewer Needs and Servicing Study,
Town of Collingwood
CCTA evaluated and planned a sewer system that accommodates
development in the east end industrial lands of the Town of

identified why it is surcharging and recommended solutions
for its premature overloading. The client is acting on CCTA's
recommendations in its new sewage servicing master plan.
Features
- Detailed sewage flow monitoring correlated with rainflow
data
- Nine alternative servicing scenarios
- System modeling and scenario comparison
- Recommendations for short and long-term servicing solutions

Sanitary Sewer System Assessment, City of Vaughan
CCTA monitored flows in sewersheds of the City's trunk sewers
to predict if the system could accommodate increased usage
by new residents in massive local housing developments. Our
staff collected data over two years to establish actual sewage
flow rates. We modeled estimates of future generation and
inflow/infiltration contributions as a basis for planning.
Features
- Sewage system capacity assessment
- Monitoring and data collection at 15 sites in 3 sewersheds
- Actual sewage flow figures
- Sewage generation rate estimates
- Inflow/infiltration contribution estimates

Pressures for significant growth in parts of southern Ontario
in the early 1990s were a major challenge for local governments.
The feasibility and costs of water and sewage servicing were
of particular concern. An inter-ministerial committee was
established to recommend technically and economically feasible
strategies to accommodate predicted growth. CCTA completed
a comprehensive study of municipal water and sewage works
systems in a large band of land surrounding the GTA, stretching
from Brantford to Barrie.
