Chairman’s Message
Most particularly over the past five years, we have witnessed an unprecedented consolidation in the Canadian consulting engineering business. In Ontario, it seems that most of the consulting engineering firms have been acquired by a small number of huge, international corporations. This no doubt reflects the emergence of mega projects in North America, but more particularly abroad. Only very large firms have sufficient horsepower to take these on, even then while sharing the risk with other big firms. What we perceive as the local fallout from such widespread consolidation is a deterioration in client service arising through the inevitable shifting about of personnel and the disconnects associated with that, plus a gentle decline in communications, and in personal attention to detail.
As a strong, healthy and well respected employee owned practice, we live and work in close association with the clients and communities we serve. Specialist advice and strategic decisions don’t originate from a regional or head office some considerable distance away.
We have entered our third decade of practice with optimism and enthusiasm, blended with the satisfaction of living, working, and playing in a blessed environment. From day one, we have recognized the importance - beyond the mandate of developing cost efficient, technically sound solutions for clients - of the satisfaction and value derived from attentive client service provided through specialized skills and balanced perspectives. That is who we are.
